A School Near Anna Nagar: What Families Ask Us First
Many of the families who visit Darwin live in Anna Nagar. Before they ask about curriculum or results, they usually ask the practical questions: how far is it, how will my child get there, and how big are the classes? This page answers those first.
Where we are
Darwin Public School is in Kolathur, just north of Anna Nagar. For most families in Anna Nagar it is about 15 minutes away. The school has two adjacent campuses: Darwin Public School, and the new Darwin Primary School (opened September 2026), which currently houses our Montessori environments.
Getting to school
- School buses are air-conditioned and GPS-tracked.
- The campus is covered by CCTV, and staff supervise arrival and dispersal.
- Bus routes change each year, so ask us about the route from your street when you visit.
What your child will learn
- Montessori (ages 3–6): hands-on learning through practical life, sensorial, language and maths materials. About our Montessori programme.
- Lower Elementary (from 2027–28): for children continuing from Darwin Montessori, Grades 1 and 2 follow ICSE, taught the Montessori way. A regular Primary section continues for new joiners.
- ICSE, Primary to Grade 10: a curriculum that rewards understanding over memorising, with strong English, maths and science. How our curriculum works.
Class size
We keep a 1:10 teacher–child ratio, so teachers know each child well, including how they learn, what they find hard and what they enjoy.
Beyond the classroom
Children play basketball, football, table tennis and pickleball, and take part in Zumba, art, music and theatre. These are part of the school week, not extras for a few.
How admissions work
Admissions start with a Discovery Tour on select Saturday afternoons. You see both campuses, step inside our classrooms and learning environments, and meet our leadership team. For Montessori 1, your child should turn 3 on or before 31 July of the admission year. Our month-by-month admissions guide explains the timeline.
Whichever school you choose
Visit in person, ask direct questions and watch how teachers speak to children. Our list of 10 questions to ask on a school visit works for any school, not just ours.
If Darwin is on your list, we would be glad to show you around.
